About Your YMCA
Take comfort that the YMCA serves you from a rich tradition of experience. For over 150 years, the YMCA nationally has been involved in helping people like you develop a strong Spirit, Mind and Body. In 1866, the YMCA came to Williamsport and was located on 211 W. Fourth St. In 1923 our current building on the corner of Fourth and Elmira St. opened, it had two gymnasiums and hosted the national basketball championships in 1935 and 1937. In 1977 the family center open on Elmira St. which included 6 racquetball courts, a gymnasium and a pool. In 1996, we opened the doors to our Arena which host soccer, basketball and hockey leagues, events, parties, skating and many other activities.
Today we have over 3000 members who benefit from our wellness facilities and programs. With four state licensed Childcare/Preschool Centers we average over 400 children per day, we teach over 2000 kids how to swim each year, our 16 sites of Before / After-School Programs, serves all school districts in Lycoming county averages over 350 kids per day and each month we have over 1000 children enjoying our Children’s Discovery Workshop.
With over 142 years in the community the Williamsport YMCA will continue to help build strong kids, strong families and a strong community for the future.
